Hello I bought a pair of costas about 1 year ago "tuna alley T39" at nordstrom rack the lenses dont have any kind of markings only the frames. I went to sell them and they been returned twice because the lenses are not real( thats what people that return them said) but they were purchased at nordstrom rack. Ive notice that all from nordstrom dont have markings on lenses. can you help me out with this. thanks
It is possible Nordstrom only had Costa sunglasses with the 400 lenses, not 580 lenses. The old Costa 400 lenses did not have any markings on the lenses as you are describing. The 400 lenses were discontinued about a year or two ago. We only sell authentic Costa sunglasses with the 580 lenses that have the marking on them. Give us a call at 888-831-5817 and we can help you get some real Costa sunglasses with the 580 technology.
I have a pair of Tuna Alley glasses that have “COSTA” etched into the right lens. They have TA-11 imprinted on the left temple arm. What model are these?
We just got word back from our friends at Costa that back in the earlier days they use to etch "Costa" in the right lens. They no longer do this but we can confirm you have authentic Costa sunglasses. As for the specific Tuna Alley frame you have, I'd recommend sending in a picture of the model to our optician team here They will be able to identify the specific colorway you have and any other question.
I have a pair of Double Haul DH 23 glasses/ patent pending on them, They have nothing on the lens. No 580 or 580P. I purchased them from a Authorized Dealer and still have my receipt. Do I have the real deal or do I need to let someone know about this " Authorized Dealer" ????
The Costa Double Haul is an older model that was discontinued a few years ago. It is possible the Double Haul has the Costa 400 lenses that did not have any etching on it. I hope this helps answers your question. Please feel free to contact us at www.sportrx.com/contact if you have any more questions.
I lost my Costas and they were a gift. I would like to purchase a new pair, but I can't remember the name of the ones I had. If I send a picture do you think your team would be able to tell which ones I am wearing?
Our team of opticians should be able to help with that. You can send a picture of the Costa sunglasses you have here https://www.sportrx.com/contact. They will respond quickly and help answer any other question you may have. Thank you for reaching out!
I noticed your answer above on October 7, 2019 regarding "Costa" etched into some of the right lenses in the "earlier days". I recently received a pair of 580G Reeftons that have "Costa" etched into the right lens but I did not think Reeftons have been around long enough to be considered "earlier days". Could you confirm whether Reeftons were part of that older practice as well? Thanks in advance. -Bryan
Our friends at Costa confirmed the Reefton was released in 2016, which is when they still were etching Costa into the right lens. However, since then all Costa Reeftons will only have either 580P or just 580 etched into the lens. It is possible whoever gifted them to you had one of the early Reeftons from 2016. But if they were purchased recently they should only have 580P or 580 on the lenses. If you are not sure please feel free to email me a picture at ryan@sportrx.com and ill help confirm if you have authentic Costa sunglasses. Thank you for reaching out!
Hello, I bought a pair of costa cat cat matte black blue mirror lenses from jomashop. It has 580 edges on the lense but does not have the patent number and AT1 printed on the arm. Does this mean it’s a knock off? Thanks.
Hello! It sounds like they are legitimate but if you want to be certain take a few pictures of your frames from various angles and one that includes the info on the inside arm, and send them to info@sportrx.com One of our licensed opticians will get back to you in no time with confirmation of their authenticity.
Hi. I just purchased a pair of Jose off of ebay, the lens has the 580p etching, but the frames have Jose CO.02 on them, are they authentic or not. Thanks, any info would be appreciated. Mike
Hey Mike! If you take a few pictures of your frames from various angles and one that includes the info on the inside arm, and send them to info@sportrx.com one of our licensed opticians will get back to you in no time with confirmation of their authenticity.

Hi. I was looking at buying a pair of Costa del mar Gallo copper lens 580g . The right lens has 580 ok but on the frame it has China. Do you think these are the real deal and are the frames themselves made in China.
Hi Darren! Costa makes their frames in a few different countries, China being one of them but i have not seen any drop in overall quality resulting from frames being made in one place versus another. If you take a few pictures of your frames from various angles and one that includes the info on the inside arm, and send them to info@sportrx.com one of our licensed opticians will get back to you in no time with confirmation of their authenticity.
I am looking to purchase some on the web and they look real but the model number says ""JO 98 OBMGOP" and i cant find these anywhere. the only ones i can find identical end in an LP "JO 98 OBMGLP" was this a real set?
Hi Kyle this sounds like an authentic Costa frame to me based off the numbers you provided BUT If you take a few pictures of your frames from various angles and one that includes the info on the inside arm, and send them to info@sportrx.com one of our licensed opticians will get back to you in no time with confirmation of their authenticity.
I have a pair of Costa Las Olas that I bought from Sierra Trading Post. It has the 580P etched but inside it says patent pending, Las Olas LO 40 and on the other side it says COSTA ce China 12. Are they real?
Hi Alice! Those do indeed sound like authentic Costa frames to me BUT If you take a few pictures of your frames from various angles and one that includes the info on the inside arm, and send them to info@sportrx.com one of our licensed opticians will get back to you in no time with confirmation of their authenticity.
I bought a pair of Fantail 580G Costas on eBay. I received the glasses in a Costa box with the correct case and all paperwork. The 580 is etched in the upper corner of the right lense. My concern is that the lenses are loose in the frames. They actually will rattle if you shake the glasses. I’ve had a dozen pairs of Costas and have never seen this before. What is your opinion ?
That is a valid concern! It sounds like they are still real Costas, but there can definitely be a variance in both the frame and lens sizing, as there are tolerances in the manufacturing process. If you get a frame that happens to be a bit large, but still within tolerance, and pair it with a lens that's a bit small within tolerance, you can run into this problem. My question is are they selling real Costas..They we're on Facebook, bought two pairs for around $80.. Waiting on delivery I'm sure they sell tons of these they ship from China. Thanks please get back to me at the provided email address
Hey Paul, we can't confirm the authenticity without knowing the model details, plus there's a few other qualifiers as well. When you receive the frames, send a few images to info@sportrx.com along with any numbers or markings visible on the inside temple, and we'll confirm its authenticity. Thanks!
HI Sheri! The 580p stamp suggests it's authentic. Some frame parts are manufactured in China, but it's no indication of a drop in quality. If you're unsure of your frame's authenticity, send some photos to info@sportrx.com and a licensed optician will review and get back to you with confirmation.
I bought a pair of Costa Blokes and the temple arms are upswept instead of down swept like all the pictures online. i bought them in Florida at a Costa dealer in 2017. i cant find any pictures of the temple arms like mine . They have all the costa marking ... im at a loss... Can anyone shed some light on this ??
Interesting, Chase. Can you send some pictures of what you're describing to info@sportrx.com? Upon which an optician will review the images and get back to you with an answer.
