Ray-Ban Meta has replaced Ray-Ban Stories, which debuted in 2021. Stories glasses were ideal for digital creators and social media mavens. Their main purpose was to help people capture and share memories. If you own a pair of Ray-Ban Stories, you can still use them as usual with the Meta View app (previously called Facebook View).

Ray-Ban Meta is the latest generation of smart glasses from Ray-Ban and Meta. Following the popularity of Stories, Meta widens the scope of what Ray-Ban's smart glasses can do. Their goal is to help people live in the moment by limiting the amount of time spent behind a phone screen. How? Ray-Ban Meta blends the smart tech you want with the world in front of you, so you can live in the moment while capturing it. That means no more pulling out your phone to take a photo, and no more walking with your head down while you type a text. Photo and Video Capture

The glasses feature a wide 12 MP camera, which shoots high-quality photos and records videos in 1080p. (This is an upgrade from Ray-Ban Stories, which featured 5 MP cameras). The camera automatically adjusts to your environment so you can film in low light with ease. You can record up to 60 seconds of footage at a time. Easily share your photos with family and friends in your contacts via voice command.

How do I record videos and take photos with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses?

Press the capture button on top of the right temple once to take a photo. Tap and hold the button to begin recording and tap once to end the recording. You can also use voice command. For example, say, “Hey Meta, take a photo.”

Calling and Messaging

Make and take calls hands-free with voice command technology. You can also send messages via WhatsApp and Messenger hands-free.

How do I make calls with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses?

Double-tap the right side temple touch pad to answer a call as well as end it. Tap and hold the touch pad to reject a call. To take and make calls hands-free, say "Hey Meta, call [contact name]." To answer a call, say "Hey Meta, answer."

How do I send messages with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses?

You can send messages via Messenger, WhatsApp, and Google Messages hands-free. For example, if you want to send a photo to someone, simply say, "Hey Meta, take a photo, and send to [contact name or group chat name] on [messaging platform name]." Meta AI will ask for confirmation that the contact name and messaging platform is accurate before it sends the message. For iOS iMessage, you can draft messages with voice command, but must manually send the message from your phone.

Livestreaming

Livestream to Instagram and Facebook directly from your glasses. Share both POV footage (what your glasses see) and what your phone camera sees. For example, let’s say you’re a baker who is livestreaming yourself baking a cake. You can film yourself talking to your audience with your phone's camera, and then switch to filming your hands mixing the batter with the glasses camera. You can also hear comments via the glasses speakers, so you can easily connect with your viewers in real-time.

How do I livestream with Meta smart glasses?

Open up the livestreaming section of Instagram or Facebook on your smartphone. Once livestreaming, double tap the capture button on the right temple to switch between the smart glasses camera and your phone camera. Tap and hold the temple to check audience comments.

Open-Ear Audio

Two hidden open-ear speakers located on the temples provide high-quality sound for listening to music and podcasts, and making phone calls. With improved speakers, you get an immersive audio experience that doesn’t bother those around you. While you get impressive audio, you can also hear your surroundings for safety thanks to the open-ear design.

For recording and chatting on the phone, the glasses feature five digital microphones. Spatial audio helps cancel out background noise from wind and other external noises.

Spotify Tap™

With Spotify integration, you can easily jam to your favorite playlists and listen to podcasts with a simple tap.

How does Spotify Tap™ work with Ray-Ban smart glasses?

Tap the temple touch pad once to play or pause. Tap twice to skip a song and tap three times to go back to a previous song. Adjust the audio by sliding your finger along the temple touch pad. You can also use voice command to control the Spotify feature.

Meta AI

Need hands-free instructions for patching a bike tire when you’re on the trail? Want suggestions to improve your golf swing at the driving range? Simply say “Hey Meta” followed by a prompt or question, and Meta AI responds to you both verbally via temple speakers, and via text in the app. The app saves your queries and the responses so you can look at them later, favorite them, send them to someone, or delete‌ them. Meta AI is currently only available in the US with voice commands in English.

Ray-Ban smart glasses also feature multimodal AI. This means the Meta AI assistant can process information collected through images and video in addition to voice. So when you're on vacation in a foreign country, you can simply take a picture of a landmark and ask Meta AI for information about it. You can also have it translate the menu into your preferred language when dining at a restaurant. To use this feature, simply say "Hey Meta, look," followed by your request. For example, "Hey Meta, look and translate this menu to English for me."

With a single charge, the glasses last up to 4 hours. With a fully charged case, you can get around 32 hours of use. The charging case itself is smaller than the Stories charging case and looks like a traditional Ray-Ban case.

There is a circular light on the front of the case that displays the charge status. If the case is empty, the light displays the case’s charge status. If the glasses are inside the case, the light displays the charge status of the glasses. A yellow light means charging is in process. A green light means charging is complete.
