When you order Maui Jim sunglasses in prescription from us, you are going to get authentic Maui Jim lenses made at their lab that match their non-prescription lenses perfectly. The cost will be dependent upon what lens features you are looking for and what frame you are interested in. Thank you for reading!
Hello! In the first, top box, what do the numbers mean for far and near? I have numbers in both columns. Does that mean nearsighted and farsighted? Thanks!
Great question! 'Far and near' in our image example is referring to the pupil distance (PD) measurement. When you're looking at something up close, your eyes will converge more, so that is a measurement for bifocals or progressives.
How does the ADD in a progessive lens work? Say the prescription is Sph -2.00 with an ADD of 2.25. Is the bottom of the progressive len then a +0.25 or is it a full strength +2.25? If no lens correction is needed for reading, computer, car dashboard etc. to cancel any correction when the Sph is -2.00 would the ADD have to be +2.00?
That is a great question! When you have a reading ADD of +2.00 on a prescription lens of -2.00, where that reading ADD is fully recognized, it would make for a 0.00 correction. Keep in mind, if you're talking about a progressive, the magnification gradually increases as you scroll down the lens, so it isn't as immediately obvious where that full ADD is in effect. However, you then also have the benefit of taking advantage of that full range of magnification, which is perfect for different distances! Thank you for the question!
thanks
